Job Description: Materials Sciences LLC (MSC) is looking to fill a position for a Composite Lamination Technician. The role of Lamination Technician is vital to the growth of Materials Sciences LLC. This role manufactures products utilizing pre-preg lamination, wet lamination and resin infusion.

A lamination tech typically works in a production environment that necessitates that usage of protective gear such as goggles and steel-toed boots. Furthermore, while it is desired for employees in this role to work independently with minimal supervision, they must also communicate effectively with other technicians to complete production objectives in a timely manner. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role as the final manufactured components are typically high performance and require extreme precision. Lamination technicians will ultimately be responsible for reporting their progress to a composite supervisor.

Technicians must be able to stand on their feet for several hours at a time and lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. A high school diploma is a minimum requirement for this position, and prior experience in manufacturing or a related field is highly beneficial. Industry certifications are also helpful.


Responsibilities May Include:

  • Working under minimal supervision
  • Performs a variety of tasks, which require knowledge of lamination techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Reads/Interprets and follows Manufacturing and Inspection Procedures (MIPs) and Work Orders.
  • Preparing mold or tool surface properly with release film, wax and other part release products
  • Using pre-preg lamination techniques, cuts cloth and lays up products of varying tolerances.
  • Prepares products for vacuum bagging (pre-preg) and resin infusion.
  • Handles, applies, stores and disposes of composite materials, adhesives, sealants, resins and solvents per OSHA regulation.
  • Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as "right-the-first-time" approach.
  • Inspects finished products for conformance to specifications.
  • Completes of all required documentation.
  • Inspecting laminate surfaces for defects, imperfections, foreign material (FOD) or other non-conformance, and correcting as necessary
  • Complies with established safety directives.
  • Maintains a clean work area
  • Complies with established QMS procedures.
  • Sand/trim composite materials (fiberglass, carbon, Kevlar) to proper dimensions based on MIPs, Work Orders and drawings
  • Understanding basic math to calculate, weigh, mix and catalyze resin
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Other duties as required

Working Conditions:

  • May be requested to work extended hours or weekends.
  • May be exposed to noise and hazardous chemicals.
